— What we do

Painting and decorating services.

Interior painting and decorating

Walls, ceilings, woodwork, doors, skirting, architraves and radiators. Two coats minimum, three on darker colours. Surfaces properly prepared — filled, sanded, primed before paint goes anywhere near them. Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Dulux Trade and Crown Trade as standard. We respect period plaster, work neatly around furniture, and clean up at the end of every day.

Wallpapering

From statement feature walls to full hallways and dining rooms — Cole & Son, Farrow & Ball, Morris & Co, Designers Guild, hand-block prints. Properly lined walls, pattern-matched seams, bubble-free finish. Period properties usually need lining paper first; we cost this in upfront so there are no surprises.

Decorative panelling and joinery

Wainscoting, dado panelling, shaker panelling, board-and-batten feature walls, Georgian-style mouldings. Made in our workshop, painted in the chosen finish, fitted on site. The kind of architectural detail that transforms a flat box-room into a proper period room. Common in Victorian and Edwardian properties across Wandsworth, Dulwich, Clapham and Wimbledon.

Micro-cement and decorative finishes

Polished plaster, micro-cement, Venetian plaster, lime wash, textured finishes. Seamless surfaces for contemporary bathrooms, kitchens, feature walls, and statement reception rooms. Multi-layer application, properly sealed. Common in modern Kensington and Chelsea projects where the brief is “no joints, no grout lines, just one continuous surface”.

Period restorations

Original cornicing repaired and reinstated, ceiling roses restored, dado rails replaced, sash windows repainted, period staircases stripped and refinished. Breathable lime-based paints where the original construction demands them — important for Victorian terraces and listed properties.

Exterior painting

Render, brickwork, front doors, window frames, rainwater goods, garage doors. Proper preparation — scraping, sanding, priming — and exterior-grade paints that handle South London weather. Lead paint warnings for pre-1960 properties handled correctly. Scaffolding or cherry picker organised where needed.

— What it costs

Painting and decorating costs in South London.

Honest ranges based on the work we actually do across South London in 2025-2026. Final price depends on the condition of existing walls and woodwork, whether wallpaper or lining paper needs stripping or applying, paint specification, and how much period detail needs prep work.

Single room · £800 – £2,000

Bedroom or small living room. Two-coat paint on walls and ceiling, woodwork repainted, minor filling and sanding. Typical room takes 2-4 days. Premium paints (Farrow & Ball, Little Greene) cost more in materials but the finish lasts longer.

Full flat · £3,000 – £8,000

Two to three-bedroom flat. All rooms painted including hallway, kitchen and bathroom. Doors, frames, skirting, radiators included. Wallpaper feature walls extra. Typical timeline 1-2 weeks. Common for landlords preparing properties between tenancies and homeowners doing a “freshen up” before moving in.

Full house · £8,000 – £25,000

Three to four-bedroom house. All interior rooms, hallway, landing, staircase. Period detail restored — cornicing, dado rails, panelling. Bespoke colour consultations available. Premium specifications throughout. Typical timeline 3-5 weeks. Common for Victorian and Edwardian family homes across Wandsworth, Wimbledon, Dulwich, Beckenham and Bromley.

Decorative panelling, micro-cement, and bespoke wallpapering are quoted separately based on specification — panelling typically £150-300 per square metre installed, micro-cement £200-400 per square metre depending on finish.

— How we work

Our painting and decorating process.

Decorating is the most-judged trade in any project. A bad paint job is the one thing every visitor notices. We treat preparation as 70% of the work — sanding, filling, priming, masking, protecting floors and furniture. Done right at this stage, the finish lasts ten years. Done badly, it shows in three months.

1. Site visit and honest quote

We visit the property, check the condition of walls and woodwork, identify prep work needed (cracks, damp, old paint flaking, peeling wallpaper), recommend paint specifications, and discuss colour. Fixed-price quote within 48 hours with every line itemised.

2. Colour consultation

Optional but recommended for full houses. We bring sample pots, paint test patches on actual walls (north-facing and south-facing rooms look completely different in the same colour), and discuss undertones, sheen levels, and where to use accent colours.

3. Preparation

Furniture moved or covered, floors protected with double-layer dust sheets, masking applied to fittings. Walls washed, cracks raked out and filled, old paint sanded smooth, knots sealed, primer applied where needed. This stage takes longer than the actual painting and is what separates a £ 1-per-m² job from a £ 50-per-m² finish.

4. Paint

Two coats minimum, three on darker colours. Cutting in by hand at edges and corners, rolling for flat surfaces, brush for woodwork. Each coat is allowed to dry properly between applications. Neighbour-friendly working hours, daily clean-down, considerate of pets and small children.

5. Handover and snagging

Final clean, walkthrough, leftover paint labelled for touch-ups (always handy when the inevitable scuff happens). Two-year warranty on workmanship. We come back at six months to check the finish — included.

— Why LMDEC

Why South London homeowners choose us for decoration.

Preparation is the job. Anyone can roll paint onto a wall. The difference between a good decorator and a cheap one is the prep — filling, sanding, masking, and priming. We don’t skip this step, ever. The finish proves it.

Period property experience. Victorian and Edwardian properties have wonky walls, cracked plaster, old lead paint, fragile cornicing, and original sash windows. We know what to preserve, what to repair, and what to replace.

We work around your life. Dust sheets every day, neighbour-friendly working hours, considerate of furniture, pets and routines. Single rooms can be done while you stay in the property — full houses we usually time around a family holiday or move-in date.

£2M public liability insurance, two-year workmanship warranty. We return at six months to check the finish — included.
