Bathroom renovations across South London.

From frameless walk-in showers and freestanding tubs to compact wet rooms and period-style restorations with encaustic tile flooring. Every bathroom designed, plumbed, tiled, and finished by LMDEC’s team.

— Project types

The bathroom renovations we build most often.

Luxury wet rooms and walk-in showers

Frameless glass enclosures, marble tiling, rainfall heads, thermostatic mixers, integrated niches. Tanked floors with proper falls — no shortcuts on the waterproofing. The kind of bathroom renovation that holds its value for twenty years. Common in Kensington mansion flats, Dulwich villas, and renovated Edwardian properties in Wimbledon.

Period restorations with modern function

Freestanding clawfoot baths, encaustic Victorian-pattern floors, traditional chrome fittings, panelled walls, exposed copper pipework done properly. We’ve done several in conservation areas — including Pimlico townhouses and Dulwich period homes — where the brief is “make it modern, but make it feel like it’s always been there.”

Family bathrooms and ensuites

Combination bath-and-shower units, floating vanities with proper storage, anti-slip floor tiles, under-floor heating, heated towel rails. Built to take family wear-and-tear for fifteen years. Most of our Balham, Clapham, Croydon and Bromley bathroom renovation work falls into this category — properly built, sensibly specified, long-lasting.

Compact bathrooms and shower rooms

Tight floor plans done well — wall-hung sanitaryware to maximise floor space, smart storage, large-format tiles to make the space feel bigger, frameless screens, walk-in showers under sloped ceilings. Common in loft conversions and converted Victorian flats across South London.

— How we work

Our bathroom renovation process.

Bathrooms are unforgiving. Poor waterproofing, badly-laid tiles, or undersized pipework will cause grief for years. LMDEC project-manages every bathroom renovation end-to-end — carpentry, tiling, plastering and decorating delivered by our in-house team. Gas and plumbing work is carried out by our trusted independent subcontractors who are individually Gas Safe registered; electrical work by individually NICEIC certified subcontractors. Registration numbers available on request for verification. You speak to one person from quote to handover.

1. Site visit and honest quote

We visit the bathroom, check the existing pipework, look for hidden damp behind tiles, test water pressure, check waste runs and ventilation. You get a detailed fixed-price quote within 48 hours with every line itemised.

2. Design and specification

We sketch the layout, pick the sanitaryware, tiles, taps, lighting, and heating together. Walk-in shower or bath? Wet room or tanked floor? Underfloor heating or just a towel radiator? We mock it up so you can see what you’re getting before we order anything.

3. Build

Strip out, first-fix plumbing and electrics, tanking and waterproofing, screed and underfloor heating, tiling, second-fix, sanitaryware install, decoration, glass and accessories. Most bathroom renovations take two to four weeks. Dust sheets down every day, daily updates.

4. Handover and snagging

Final clean, walkthrough, all manuals and warranties handed over. Every bathroom renovation comes with a two-year workmanship warranty and a 10-year waterproofing guarantee on tanked floors and wet rooms. We return six months later to check the silicone, grouting, and seals — included, no charge.

— Common questions

Bathroom renovation South London — frequently asked.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

Two to four weeks on site for most bathroom renovations. Compact bathrooms with existing layout retained can be done in 10-14 days. Wet rooms with structural changes and underfloor heating take three to four weeks. We give you a realistic timeline at quote stage, not a hopeful one.

What does the 10-year waterproofing guarantee cover?

Our 10-year guarantee covers the tanking, membrane, and floor falls in wet rooms and tanked showers — the work we do behind the tiles. If there’s a waterproofing failure within ten years, we come back and fix it. Workmanship across the whole bathroom renovation is covered for two years. Sanitaryware and tiles are covered by their own manufacturer warranties.

How much does a bathroom renovation cost in South London?

Compact bathroom renovation £6,000-£10,000. Standard family bathroom with new layout, premium tiling, underfloor heating £10,000-£18,000. Luxury wet rooms with marble, frameless glass and designer fittings £18,000-£35,000+. All LMDEC bathroom renovations include a 10-year waterproofing guarantee.

Can I still use the rest of the house during the build?

Yes — we seal off the bathroom, run plastic sheeting in hallways, hoover up at the end of every day. If it’s your only bathroom, we time the disconnect to minimise downtime — usually two or three days without a working shower or toilet during first-fix. Most clients with only one bathroom arrange to use a neighbour’s, gym, or stay with family for that period.

Do you supply the sanitaryware and tiles, or do I?

Either works. We have trade accounts with major suppliers (Crosswater, Burlington, Duravit, Geberit, Porcelanosa, Mandarin Stone) which means trade discount we pass through. Or you buy direct and we install — fine, but you take responsibility for ordering correctly and any returns. We’ll itemise both options on the quote.

Do you work on listed buildings or in conservation areas?

Yes — we’ve done bathroom renovations in Grade II listed properties in Pimlico, conservation area townhouses in Kensington and Chelsea, and period villas in Dulwich and Wimbledon. We work with heritage architects when consent is required and use materials sympathetic to the property’s age.

What if you find rotten joists or failed pipework behind the existing tiles?

We tell you straight away, photograph it, quote the additional work, and wait for your approval before proceeding. Roughly one in four bathroom renovations reveals something unexpected behind the tiles — usually a slow leak, rotten joist, or undersized waste pipe. Better found and fixed during a renovation than discovered as a flood three years later.
