— Recent hallways
Hallways we’ve renovated across South London.
From restored Victorian tiled entrances and engineered oak floors to bespoke staircases with integrated LED lighting and fitted hallway storage. Every project designed, built, plastered, floored and finished by our team.

— What we renovate
The hallways we work on most often.
Period entrance restorations
Original Victorian tiled floors stripped, repaired and re-laid. Plaster cornicing and ceiling roses reinstated. Restored timber panelling. Repolished or rebuilt period staircases with handcrafted spindles and newel posts. Common in Wandsworth, Clapham, Dulwich and Wimbledon Victorian and Edwardian properties where the original detail is worth preserving.
Modern hallway renovation across South London
Engineered oak or herringbone flooring, fresh plaster, full repaint, replacement of staircase spindles and handrails, modern recessed lighting, smart LED strip lights under stair treads. The kind of update that lifts a tired hallway into a proper entrance. Common in family homes across Beckenham, Bromley, Banstead and Croydon.
Bespoke hallway storage and joinery
Built-in coat and shoe storage, under-stair wardrobes, fitted wall panelling, window seats with concealed storage, bespoke radiator covers. Made in our workshop, painted in your chosen finish, fitted on site. Particularly common in narrow Victorian hallways and Edwardian flats across South London.
Staircase renovations
From simple carpet-to-oak conversions to fully rebuilt staircases with new treads, risers, spindles and handrails. Period restorations or contemporary minimalist designs with cantilevered treads and integrated LED lighting. We handle Building Regs compliance — rise, going, head clearance, balustrade height — so the renovation is also legally sound.
— How we work
Our hallway renovation process.
Hallways are the most-used room in any house — every coming and going passes through them. We work around your family’s life: dust sheets every day, working hours that don’t disturb morning routines, and the project sequenced so you always have a safe route through. All trades in-house.
1. Site visit and honest quote
We come to your home, measure the space, check existing plaster, floor levels, electrical capacity, staircase condition and any structural issues. Fixed-price quote within 48 hours with every line itemised.
2. Design and specification
We agree the scope, flooring choice, paint colours, joinery and lighting plan. Sketches or mood boards if you want them, technical drawings for bespoke storage, schedule of finishes.
3. Build
First-fix electrics if needed, plastering and skimming, joinery install, flooring, decoration. Most hallways take one to three weeks depending on staircase work and bespoke joinery. Dust sheets every day, safe route preserved, daily updates.
4. Handover and snagging
Final clean, walkthrough, paint labelled for touch-ups. Two-year workmanship warranty. We return at six months to check plaster cracks, paint, floor settling — included.

Standard refurbishment · £6,000 – £15,000
Engineered oak flooring or herringbone, full re-plaster, complete repaint, new lighting circuits, refinished or partly-rebuilt staircase, basic built-in coat storage. Typical for family homes in Wandsworth, Wimbledon, Beckenham, Bromley, Banstead and Croydon.
Luxury refurbishment · £15,000 – £30,000+

— Why LMDEC
Why South London homeowners trust us with hallways.
Period property experience. Victorian and Edwardian hallways have wonky walls, sloping floors, lath-and-plaster ceilings, original mosaic tiles worth saving. We know what’s worth preserving and what’s worth replacing.
All trades in-house. Plastering, electrics, joinery, flooring, decoration — all on our team. No coordinating between sub-contractors. One project manager from start to finish.
We work around your life. Hallways are unavoidable — your kids walk through them to school, you bring shopping through them, the post lands in them. We sequence the work so you always have a safe, clean route through.
Bathrooms are unforgiving. Poor waterproofing, badly-laid tiles, or undersized pipework will cause grief for years. LMDEC project-manages every bathroom renovation end-to-end — carpentry, tiling, plastering and decorating delivered by our in-house team. Gas and plumbing work is carried out by our trusted independent subcontractors who are individually Gas Safe registered; electrical work by individually NICEIC certified subcontractors. Registration numbers available on request for verification. You speak to one person from quote to handover.
